I Still Say Merry Christmas
Words and music ©2008 Steve Bryant
Verse 1:
Instead of Merry Christmas we say happy holidays.
Christmas Carols have been banned along with words of praise.
Jesus is the reason for the season to exist.
They went and took his holy name right off of their list.
This time of year when I stop and have a little chat,
I still say Merry Christmas…You got a problem with that?
Verse 2:
I still say Merry Christmas and my kids sing Silent Night.
If you try to rename my Christmas Tree, you’re looking for a fight.
If my God offends you, there’s no way you can defend it.
I have Freedom of Religion, check your First Amendment.
If you want me to be quiet, you can stick it in your hat.
I still say Merry Christmas…You got a problem with that?
Chorus:
I still say Merry Christmas and sing Joy to the World.
We’re one nation under God, as long as our flag’s unfurled.
A lot of good people gave their lives trying to protect.
They were patriots, not politically correct.
Verse 3:
I still say Merry Christmas, Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.
I heard it all the time, now I can’t remember when.
There used to be a Manger over by the Courthouse Square.
They replaced it with a winter scene, you know it isn’t fair.
Most politicians say it’s right, but I still smell a rat.
And I still say Merry Christmas…You got a problem with that?
Chorus:
I still say Merry Christmas and sing Joy to the World.
We’re one nation under God, as long as our flag’s unfurled.
A lot of good people gave their lives trying to protect.
They were patriots, not politically correct.
