Radio Legend Harry Gross Dies
Harry Gross, famous for his long-running financial advice show on WWDB, has passed away at the age of 92. His show ran from 1978 to 1998 dispensing practical advice and interesting commentary. He had a wonderful way of connecting with listeners. I learned as a young man how to properly title our house and pay it off early without committing to a 15-year mortgage. When money markets went insane I locked in money long-term at 12% based on the information gleaned from Harry. He didn't push specific financial products but educated listeners so they could make their own decisions. Some of his calls were shocking. One that stuck in my mind was an elderly lady who signed over her home to her daughter who then kicked her out of her own home! He managed to help that lady and detailed the proper steps for other people on how to protect assets. His show was before a time of government regulations ruling tedious hour-long brokered financial shows that never seem to give out any useful and educational material.

WPHT 1210-AM has moved Gary R'nel from afternoons with Dick Morris to evenings at 6 to 9pm.

Update as of 2016: WPHT had used several fill in hosts during the past year for this time slot then as of March 2016 Moved Sean Hannity's delayed replay from 9pm to 6pm.
Archived bio info from the website: Gary R’nel adroitly refers to his show as an anomaly in talk radio. He is a Center/Right guy who does not come to the microphone with an umbilical cord nor an appendage attached to the RNC. Gary states: “This show is not a propaganda machine. I’m extremely proud of my conservative heritage but still willing to discuss the issues and then pontificate on why my opinion is the right one challenging the listener to prove me wrong.” Talk Radio at its best.

Starting Monday November 3rd Rich Zeoli will move from his 6pm slot to 3-6pm.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Talk Radio 1210 WPHT announced that Rich Zeoli will be the host in the 3p-6p slot on 1210AM, online at www.cbsphilly.com, and through the Radio.com app available for a variety of mobile devices starting Wednesday, November 5th. Rich will discuss local and national policy, the economy, the biggest news stories and issues that affect all Philadelphians, coupled with interviews of the day’s news and decision makers.
“We are thrilled that Rich is moving to afternoons at WPHT. He’s a smart, energetic, entertaining talk show host who can tackle a variety of issues that relate to his audience.” said Marc Rayfield, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO Philadelphia.
Added Zeoli, “This is a passionate town and we have opinions on everything. I love nothing more than challenging the audience and they challenge me right back. Conservative opportunist yakker Dick Morris will leave his weekday show on WPHT 1210-AM after election day. Morris made the announcement on air today during his 3-6pm show he hosts with Gary R'nel. Morris came to Philly in March 2013 and as part of his contract had to broadcast from Philly a set minimum number of days resulting in Morris splitting his time between an apartment in Philly and his house in Florida.
The usual rumors abound including Morris being picked up by his friend Ted Cruz as the presidential campaign for 2016 starts to simmer this winter. By all accounts, management was happy with Morris' performance at the station. Officially no replacement has been announced but look for one soon.
Morris mentioned "moving" his show and being on the air from noon to 1pm on Saturdays.

NewsTalk 1180 AM debuts Monday February 6th.
At 1,000 watts 1180 is hardly a blowtorch but will allow at least 3 national talk shows to be able to boast show clearance in Philadelphia. Laura Ingraham, who used to have the 9am slot on 990-AM now occupied by Mike Gallagher, will be live at 9am until 11.. At noon will be a very tape-delayed Michael Savage who is now running tape-delayed on 990 at 3am. From 4 to 6pm will be Jerry Doyle who also used to be on 990 until a couple of years ago.
Personally, I'm looking forward to hearing Jerry Doyle again. He's kinda a right winger with enough mental OCD issues to make him entertaining. His fans will remember his obsessions like having to have all the screws on lightswitch and outlet covers point up and down (so they don't collect dust) and the horror of sticky residue leftover from price stickers on drinking glasses. He's also notable for the phrase, "Congress is Hollywood for ugly people."
