Bill O'Reilly leaves talk radio

Details

Published: 07 December 2008

Bill O'Reilly confirmed last Thursday that he will leave his radio show sometime in the first quarter of 2009.  His show is carried on over 400 stations including here in Philly on 1210-AM.

WPHT will now have to find a new show to fill the slot and two major fill-in hosts for O'Reilly, Dom Giordano, and Michael Smerconish, will lose the exposure of subbing for Bill.

While Bill reasonably claims this is over issues of his time and his TV show having priority some are wondering if just a part of it is because FOX boss Roger Ailes has issued a decree to staffers to lay off Barack Obama for a while so as not to spoil his political honeymoon.

Officially FOX reports the show to be popular in the ratings and very profitable a few stations have dropped him, reportedly over ratings.
