Point Five (A Steve Bryant Parody of “New York, New York”)
Steve Bryant's parody of WPEN and its flagging sports talk format.
WPEN 950-AM changed formats a few times in past years. Most recently to Sports/Talk to go head to head with WIP 610-AM. The results weren't pretty (at least so far)
Point Five (A Steve Bryant Parody of “New York, New York”)
I just heard the news,
There’s not much to say.
Sports talk is really fading fast,
Point five, point five.
They must have the blues,
How long can they stay?
Their format wasn’t built to last,
Point five, point five.
Nobody wakes up with a format that’s still asleep,
The morning show is a wreck, and Jim Rome’s a creep.
Jody Mac’s show is great,
Good to hear Bruno again
Can they make a brand new start of it
On old 610?
Sports Talk can’t make it spin,
At least there’s no Eskin
It’s down to just point five, point five.
Point five, point five.
Nobody wakes up with a format that’s still asleep,
The morning show is a wreck…listeners are pissed…the signal’s a waste…Jim Rome’s still a creep
Jody Mac’s show is great,
Good to hear Bruno again
Can they make a brand new start of it
On old 610?
They just can’t make it spin,
At least there’s no Eskin
It’s down to just point five, point five.
Point five!
Thanks to Laura Nachman for the plug in her column
Former QVC host and self-proclaimed “radio geek” Steve Bryant wrote a song parody about Sports Talk 950-AM’s anemic 0.5 share (27 out of 28 stations) in the ratings released this week. Set to the tune of “New York, New York,” “Point Five, Point Five” can be heard on either radioracket.com or phillytalk.com.
